TIP OF THE MONTH
BY HARNG
10 ways to prepare yourself before you
invade the thrift store near you
1. Carry a large bag to contain all your loot
2. Bring a gas mask (The dust is extremely potent)
3. Wear as little as possible to ensure smooth sailing through the treacherous
sea of donated items (You can even go nude)
4. People with allergies are best kept at the entrance
5. Magnifying glass is a must for people who are oblivious to those treasures.
6. Do not force yourself to buy something that you detest even though its dirt
cheap.
7. Always check twice for flaws in items (holes, moulds, stains are residents of
the stores)
8. Some things are better left in the thrift store.
9. It's not a resort you are visiting, so remove the hat and the sunglasses from
your bag and place them with the mini fan.
10. Grab what fancies you first and slowly pick out the one you hate and you do
not need later on.
(Just like how you do it when you are eating a buffet.)
11. Get yourself a VIP card. When those 1 dollar items turn 90 cents.
12. Make friends not enemies in thrift stores. You never know what goodies they
will give you during your second visit.
13. Leave the ruffled sequined electric blue prom dress ALONE.
14. Thrift stores are great places for finding materials for your mini DIY that
might not always turned out right the first time.
15. Get yourself a truck if you intend to conquer all the thrift stores in one
day.
16. Immense yourself in antiseptic after the war. (throwing of clothes away is
optional but do not donate it back to the stores)
17. Get a comrade with you while you explore through the thick jungles of
secondhand items. (He/She might just help pull you out from the rumble if
anything happens)
18. If those pillars of items starts to shake, RUN FIRST.
19. You will find your ex's panties.
20. Buy gifts from the stores for you friends and repackage it.
21. Hide all loots from your Obessive Compulsive Disordered mum. (she will start
desanitising everything including you)
22. Vintage treasures is a must to look out for.
23. Many fashion students get their one of a kind pieces in the stores.
24. Do not be a fashion faux pas by wearing everything you find in the stores.
25. 1 day is not enough for invading the kingdom of second hand items.
26. If you see something that looks like an urn, don't touch it. DON'T. (cos its
an urn)
27. Fight till your last breath with the other soldiers that are also eyeing on
that vintage ray ban frames.
28. Kaimara bags is one of the items u see very often.
29. Load yourself with cash and ammo.
30. By the way, a shopping list is not needed.
